I'm looking into updating this family heirloom for a friend. Thought I'd gather some ideas and input. This was killed in 1906 and reworked in the 70s. Any thoughts on making the nose look nicer? Specifically the section between the nose and mouth which should be a vertical hair to hair seam. thanks in advance, Chris

I've seen worse looking mounts posted on here, and this thing was done in the early 1900's!
It's most likely an arsenic tan, so I'd be REAL careful doing anything to the leather. Clean the interior of the mouth with a soft toothbrush and warm water. Re-putty the eyes, lips, and rebuild the nose. Repaint those areas.
Short of taking a drasitic chance and soaking it up to try and remount, the above is the best you can do without risk of damaging the skin.
Also, new felt would give it new life.

I answered my own question by studying reference pictures. When a tiger growls, the seam in his upper lip opens revealing a fleshy portion. That gap in his upper lip will save me here.
Can anyone recommend a safe cleaner to use? Also, anyone know a safe dye to use to brighten the black and orange stripes?
