My Buddy has a Baboon and a Warthog skull.. He shot them about a year ago and had them cleaned over in Africa..
Both skulls are nice and white except for around the jaws. He was told this is grease..
How can we remove it without damaging or dulling the skull?
Does it have to go through the whole whiting possess again>?

I've used commercial degreasers and they suck! I would just get some white gas (hardware store, etc..) and soak it in it. Then yes, you would have to re-whiten it. I have always used watered down hydrogen peroxide overnight, then let stand in the sun.
Do not use bleach!

I've never messed with skulls before, but why can't you use bleach? Just curious.

Bleach is a bit too strong for bones. It breaks them down too much and causes them to crumble. Cooking them too long will cause the same thing to happen.

Thanks. I was going to try and do a few skulls just for practice, and that was one way that I was going to try. You saved me some time. Thanks again
