I'm mounting my first largemouth and today I skinned it out and fleshed and everything. The only thing is i had it out in 80 degree temps for a good 2 1/2 hours while I was trying to get it all done. After that i refroze it and I'm hoping it will be ok. Do you guys think i left it out too long. Thanks Alot

I think you are border lined at that temp and time but still may be ok if you thaw it out in a mixture of 50% denatured alcohol and 50% water and let preserve overnight in this solution then mount.

you really need to get you some books and videos to read and watch before beginning, unless you want to find a taxidermist to teach you how to mount fish. My opinion would be to get videos first then you could watch it several times and see what is involved, then try it yourself if you want, I also learned from videos and I think I do a fairly good job, see some ou my mounts in the award winning forum. Just remember to take your time, use reference and be patient while skills develope. Good Luck.

for a beginner I have to recommend the tom sexton bass a-z tapes, although some of it might be dated you cant get much better video footage of everything from skinning to mounting, just my 2 cents, Derek
